The Three Stages of CALL
These stages represent the evolution of CALL, each building upon the previous one and incorporating advances in technology and pedagogy. Integrative CALL, the current stage, emphasizes personalized and adaptive learning experiences, preparing learners for the diverse linguistic challenges of the modern world.
1. Behavioristic CALL (1960s-1980s):
In the initial stage, CALL programs were influenced by behaviorist theories of learning. The focus was on drilling and repetitive exercises. Learners interacted with computer programs that provided immediate feedback on their responses. These programs were structured, linear, and aimed at reinforcing specific language patterns and vocabulary. An Extra Stage, The Intelligent CALL
Intelligent CALL comprises a so called multiple media and implies intelligent software products which would be able to provide context and data simultaneously. In this case software would have a user friendly interface, information would be offered by multiple media that would meet the demand of life long learning and fit individual learning styles and purposes.
This research shows a clear concept about the behavioristic approach and language teaching methologies, it's really interesting and knowledge.
